TEXT and IMAGE by POPPY

不知不觉,回收的厕纸卷已经越积越多。
是时候来个创意手作,
把废物穿上新衣裳。

步骤一:厕纸的纸皮卷

步骤二:压扁然后对折

步骤三:用日本很亢的Washi Tape
贴在纸皮上。简单快速。

步骤四:把纸皮变向内对折。

完成了我的独一无二的零钱包包!
也可以用来放小小的零件,例如回形针,发夹。

Making a Superhero Cape

Text and Image by POPPY

Today's tutorial is on making a superhero cape.
As usual, it is pretty simple and quick.

Material needed:
1. Red Cloth
2. Template printout for cape
http://www.kayajoydesigns.com/happy-sewing-les-monsieurs-reversible-cape/
3. Felt (3 colours)
4. Scissors
5. Double sided tape or Fabric Glue

First of all, place the cape template on the red cloth.
Mark the outline of the template on the red cloth, then cut it out.

Here is the cut out cape.

Then, design your own superhero logo.

I made a The Incredible's logo.

Lastly, I stick the velcro tape at the neck area.
And it's all done.

Look at this, the creative cape made by this little boy! =)
Have fun at the party!

3. Card board or hard paper
4. Drawing paper or A4 paper
5. Colour pencils
6. Scissor
7. Knife
8. Stapler

First, wrap the milk carton with aluminium foil.

Then, use stapler to staple the opening of the milk carton
Cut out the wheels from cardboard.
Draw and colour the passengers.
Paste the wheels and passenger on the milk carton.

The whole family is going out for a trip!

I have also cut a small opening as windscreen

Pasta Necklace

Text and Image by POPPY

Two weeks ago, we organised a craft session for the little kids at a party.
We made Pasta Necklace!

Material needed:
1. 15 Penne Pasta
2. String
3. Brush
4. Paint

The older kids started to paint the penne using their favourite colours.
While the younger kids just submerge the penne into the watery paint.
Then, we set the colourful penne aside, wait until they dry.
Lastly, connect all the penne with a colourful string.

It was a very fun session for the kids.
They dressed up themselves with the beautiful necklace,
and some kids even gave it to their mom as a present.

It was fun for the parents too
because they got to spend the "adult times" with their adult friends at the party
while the kids were occupying themselves in painting.  :P

漂亮家具的专访

这个月实在是太荣幸了。
漂亮家具的手作专栏竟然邀请了我们上杂志分享。

那天我们就在温暖的咖啡厅,
听着,说着。
手作了云朵,雨滴。

DIY Photo Booth Props

TEXT and IMAGE by POPPY SEED

Photobooth moustache and photo booth props are hot right now.

To DIY your own photo booth is really easy peasy.
Material need: Black foam, red shinny paper, hair band, satay sticks, hot glue gun and scissor.

Step 1: Cut out the shape of lips or moustache you like.
To make both sides symmetrical, I drew half of the design
and then folded the foam over and cut them out.

Step 2: I can also cut out the shape I want for my create headdress,
such as mickey mouse ear or magician hat.

Step 3: Use hot glue gun to glue the stay stick to the cut-out-shaped.

Photo booth is ready to rock up the party!!

How to make your Valentine feel special?

The secret is DIY something special,
such as DIY the place mat for your candlelight dinner.

Step 1: Select the paper you like, and cut into 30cm X 45 cm.
I used ziczac cutter to create the special ziczac pattern at the sides.

Step 2: Create your stamp using potato.
Heart shape for your valentine of course!

Step 3: Stamp the potato on the white paint

Step 4: Done! Isn't it special?

DIY Paper Windmill

I would say this is the fastest way to create beautiful backdrop.

Step 1: Select the paper which has design on both sides.

Step 2: Cut diagonally from the four corners.

Step 3: Fold each corner to the center point.

Step 4: Staple it.
And it's done! :)

Paper Rosette for Chinese New Year Decor

Text and Image by POPPY

Chinese New Year
is such an important festival for chinese in Malaysia.
It will be a time for reunion dinner,
house visiting, CNY movie marathon,
Angpao collecting/givings and of course CNY decoration.

We can easily get CNY decor such as Lanton and red packets in a local shop or supermarket.
But if you would like to have something different,
you probably can try this colour paper rosette.

I forgot to take some photos while I was making them.
So here are a few pictures I took while I was making a paper rosette with the magazine pages.

Step 1: Choose a paper based on the colour and the size you want

Step 2: Fold it back to back

Step 3: Fold the paper into half, so that it looks like a fan

Step 4: Repeat the process to make another 2 fans

Step 5: Glue or tape the borders to join all fans together.

Ta-da, here are the matching colours of paper rosettes!
