Easter is just around the corner!

Text by PY. Images sourced by PY (see link)

Easter is a festival for Christians to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. For non Christians, this is the day where you can show your respects to your Christian friend's faith. Or even join them to decorate some easter eggs. (Respect one another, that's what we shall do and teach our children. Right?)

My sister and some of my dear friends are Christians. I wonder if they decorate any easter eggs or hunt any eggs at their backyard.

There are some very pretty and interesting easter eggs that i found across the internet and I would like to share with you here.

Most eggs shown in the pictures above are the ones with snowy white shell. For Malaysian, it is easier to find the brown shell eggs. I would love to try the "Simple Hand Drawn Easter Eggs" from Confetti Sunshine this weekend but i wonder if it will have the same effect on the brown eggs.
What about you? Does Easter mean anything to you? Or it is just another lazy Sunday? If you are interested to decorate some eggs for fun, which one would you like to try? ^u^

4.365 Washi Tapes - Handy Packaging

Text and Images by June Chan.

What so nice about Washi Tapes is that it's not only sealing up the package, it is also glimmering your present with various pattern of Washi tapes and it's easy to open too. Sometimes when you in a mood of giving present to someone and when you grab a little special things in the market which is very nice but it sell in no packaging box, just simply use your creativity to decorate your present with different color and patterns of Washi tapes. It turn even better if you decorate it with others accessories. I've try it with some awesome vintage look lace ribbon in my first project.

I just like the combination of the color

A simple material list: Lace ribbon, glassin paper bag and Colte Washi Tapes. The glassin paper bag can get from daiso or it can replace by brown color envelolpe.

Cut the lace ribbon according to the length of your present. Snow white is the original color of this lace ribbon, in order to make it have some vintage look we D.I.Y it with tea bag

Pick your favorite Washi Tape and just tape it on the center of the lace ribbon.

Make a round with the lace ribbon and tide it well, just tape the end of Washi tape at the beginning.

Choose a plain color Washi tape, so that it match perfectly when it's overlap with the gold color words printing washi tape. And it looks more outstanding when using different width of Washi Tapes.

Finish. With just simple 3 steps and simple materials could give your present a different handy look.

Craft for Fun - Pom Pom Flower

By PY. Images by PY and June Chan.

We showed some pictures of the colorful floral pom pom last week. Today, we will show you the tutorial to make these lovely pom pom flowers.

Materials
(1) Tissue papers  x 8 sheets

You will need 8 sheets for 1 floral pom pom.
You can choose any colors that you like. You can even combine different color of tissue papers for 1 pom pom flower.
In terms of size, we are making a huge pom pom flower (20 x 30 inches)
You can adjust the size. Use smaller sheet of papers to make smaller flower.
If you are making a very small pom pom flower, you can reduce the tissue paper to 6 sheets.

You can purchase the tissue papers from Art Friend (The Garden) or any other craft stores near by.
You can also purchase it from Box2Pac, a local online store.

(2) Scissors

(3) Baker's Twine
Other than bakers twine (which could be quite pricy), you can also use tiny cable tie or cotton string.

Once you are done with Step 6, you can actually leave it until you need to hang the pom pom flower. It would be quite handy when you need to make 10 pom poms. Instead of bringing 10 huge floral pom poms to the decor site, you can bring a small bag that contain 10 folded tissue papers. You may proceed to Step 7 when you need to hang them.

Steps
Step 1, 2 and 3
Stack 8 sheets of tissue papers together (size: 20 x 30 inches)
Make 1.5 inches wide accordion fold.
Crease the folds.

Step 4.
Fold the tissue papers in half.

Step 5.
Tie a bakers twine in the middle.

Step 6.
Trim the edge. (Rounded or pointy shapes are both popular. My personal favorite is rounded edge)

Step 7
Pulling the sheets away from center. (Layer by layer.)

(a) If you would like a rounded flower to hang from the ceiling, please make sure that you are pulling towards 2 opposite directions from the center.

(b) If you intend to stick it to the decor wall/prop wall to become wall flowers, you can pull the sheets towards only 1 direction.
WIP (work in progress). Half way through Step 7(b)

Step 8
(a) Tie an extra bakers twine to the one in the middle. Make sure the knot is tight. Hang it to the ceiling. The length of bakers twine will be determined by how low you would like it to be from the ceiling.

(b) Stick it to the prop wall with hot glue gun. If it is not a prop wall, use double sided sticky tack.

Here are 2 small pom pom flowers and 5 WIPs.
1 "WIP-half-way-through-Step 7(b)" and 4 "WIP-stops-at-Step 6"

My little note for the floral pom pom.

Little artist, Baby G, adding colors to the white pom pom flower. She is 2 years 4 months old.

4 lovely pom pom flowers, ready to be sticked to the wall.

3 small flowers are colored by little artist, Baby G. ^u^
The big one is the collaboration of Baby G and her mummy.
Isn't it a fun children friendly craft?

Pom pom flowers are so fun to make! You can add a little spice to the look of your party by choosing your preference of colors.

You can even make it a children friendly activity for your kids' party. All kids can color the pom pom flowers together (by themselves or with their parents). The party host can collect all pom pom flowers and stick these colorful flowers to the wall! Now you have a 100% handmade photo booth. Snap some pictures and cherish the wonderful moments with your kids and friends!

This picture was taken and edited by Hannah (www.box2pac.com)
We purchased the colorful tissue papers from her and we made these lovely flowers for decoration.
Thanks Hannah!
